Birding Hike September 19; Sue Leaf Presentation October 22

A Little Big Year bird sighting field trip will take place at Old Wadena County Park on September 19 at 8:00 a.m. The walk will be led by Dick Oehlenschlager of the Science Museum of Minnesota. Dick is the Biology Collections Manager at the museum, and as a phenology expert, has broad knowledge of the life cycles of plants and animals as they respond to seasonal changes. He’s been observing bird behavior and nesting and migration dates since he was a teenager! He will generously share his wealth of knowledge about flora and fauna on the trek through this beautiful county park. Non-members will be charged $5.

This would be a good time to become a member of The Little Big Year birding group. Your $10 registration fee will cover the cost of this field trip and will entitle you to attend future events at no charge.

The second event is will be a presentation by Minnesota author Sue Leaf, who wrote A Love Affair With Birds, the biography of Thomas Sadler Roberts, who is the father of Minnesota ornithology and the founder of the Bell Museum of Natural History. This presentation will take place on October 22nd at 7:30 p.m. at the Cultural Center.
