Learn more about the history of Chinese immigration to the United States at our TEA TIME, a free interactive lecture and slideshow led by Eliza Rasheed and held at the Cultural Center on Saturday, May 31 at 2:00 pm.

The Minnesota Chinese Restaurant Tour is funded by the Arts Tour Minnesota FY2014 grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board. FOB follows Mu’s successful recent productions of other David Henry Hwang plays including Yellow Face (2010) and his adaptation of Rodgers & Hammerstein’s Flower Drum Song (2009). A free slide presentation about that will provide some cultural framing for the play and will be given at a tea time at the Cultural Center in New York Mills on Saturday, May 31 at 2:00 pm.

Randy Reyes, artistic director of Mu Performing Arts directs the play as it explores relationships and conflicts between established ABC (American Born Chinese) and FOB (Fresh Off the Boat) newcomers. The production stars Eric Sharp (Yellow Fever, Into the Woods), Meghan Kreidler (Kung Fu Zombies Vs. Cannibals), and Michael Sung-Ho (Into the Woods, Little Shop of Horrors).  The play is set in a Chinese restaurant with only 3 actors and explores themes of immigration, tradition, and assimilation.
