Current Gallery Exhibit

Archi-Texture, an exhibit of quilted art, December 2, 2008-January 3, 2009

This show has been arranged by the Minnesota Contemporary Quilters guild from the Twin Cities area. There are 30 quilts in the show including images of farm buildings and the Weisman Art Museum. Many of the quilts are abstract, and the techniques include hand-dyed cloth, stained-glass applique, fabric painting, photo transfer, hand beading, stamping, embroidery and many others. The size of the quilts ranges from 18" x 18" to 5' x 8'.

Gallery hours are Tuesday-Friday from 10:00am to 5:00pm and Saturday from 10:00am to 3:00pm. Four of the quilts in the show are represented by the photographs below, including (clockwise from top left) I Caught a Falling Star by Janet Hovde, Art Deco (detail from the Chrysler Building) by Mimie Pollard, Window of Hope by Nancy Berger, and Weisman Drama by Debbie Boyles.

Support for this exhibit is from the members of the Cultural Center, the State Arts Board with funding appropriated by the Minnesota State Legislature, the McKnight Foundation, and the Bay Window Quilt Shop of Perham, Minnesota.
