Knifty Knitters Knitting Class

There is nothing in the world like creating something with your own two hands…except maybe creating something with your own two needles! Experience the ‘loom method’ of knitting without having to buy a whole set of tools and supplies!

Join these Knifty Knitters in their 2-session knitting class on Tuesday April 5th and Tuesday April 12th. The $21 fee covers both sessions. You’ll learn several stitching methods and make yourself a knitted hat while picking up these fun new skills. The instructors will also share ideas and techniques for sprucing up your hat, making it your own!

knifty knitter3This class will be taught by two regulars of the Cultural Center’s Tuesday night Sit-N-Stitch, members Shelly Johnson and Maureen King. Both are self-taught knitters and crocheters as well as a variety of fiber art forms.

Knifty Looms and needle tools will be checked out by class participants and yarn will be covered by the class fee. Each participant will complete a knit hat. Concepts to be covered are: casting on, the knit stitch, forming a doubled edging, decreasing, and completion with casting off.

In addition to the basic hat, the instructors will have some ideas and supplies for personalizing your hat with animal/bird features, pom-poms, and felt appliques.
