We will hold a variety of workshops monthly February – May 2020. Please see below and call us to pre-register. We will do our best to accommodate drop-ins, but recommend reserving your spot as classes have both minimums and maximums. Read on for the full list and call us at 218-385-3339 with any questions. March 2020 Art Workshop:
Calligraphy for Spring!
Saturday March 21, 2020 | 9am-2pm (B.Y.O.Lunch)
$5 | Supplies Needed
‘Calligraphy for Spring!’ with Instructor Anita Hendrickx. Max participants 15, min 10, $25 members / $30 non -members. 9:00 a.m. – 2:00 p.m. with lunch break (bring your own lunch, beverages supplied).
Learn simple, basic letterform for calligraphy using two scripts, Roman Capital and Chancery Cursive. These scripts are common calligraphy scripts that appear on greeting cards, used in scrapbooking, wall murals, and more.
Supplies individuals will need: pencil, ruler, small disposable plastic lid (cool whip or spread topping etc.) for gold leaf (provided) and paint (provided) application. Parchment paper, calligraphy markers and other supplies will be provided and available for purchase at $5.

April 2020 Workshop:
Alcohol Inks
Saturday April 25 | 10am-12:30pm
$60 members, $50 non-members | Materials supplied
Alcohol Inks with Instructor Mary Jo Wentz. 10:00 a.m. – 12:30 p.m. All materials supplied.
We will cover the basics of painting with alcohol inks and paint on several surfaces including Yupo paper, a primed canvas, and ceramic. Participants will leave the class with a painting on Yupo, a painting on primed canvas and ready to hang, and either painted tiles or a painted soap dispenser. Have fun learning this new medium!
For artists of all levels, $60 non-members, $50 members. Max of 10 participants.

May 2020 Workshop:
Plein Air Painting with Cheryl Bannes
Saturday May 23, 2020 | 10am-2pm
$30 non-members, $25 members | Materials supplied
This painting class goes outside to paint on site, weather permitting. Painting on site can be a unique experience for beginning painters. For this class we will use acrylic paints on canvas board.
The class is for beginners, or for those who have done a little painting; color mixing, composition, technique, etc will be discussed.
Cost is $25 members, $30 non-members. All materials supplied. Max of 9 participants.

Paint + Coffee Social – “A Starry Minnesota Night”
Saturday Feb 22, 2020 | 10am-12:00pm
$15 | Materials supplied
Paint and Sip with Cheryl Bannes. “A Starry Minnesota Night”. In this fun and easy class you will use acrylic paints to create a beautiful night sky painting, while sipping coffee of different flavors. All materials will be supplied. No experience needed, just a desire to have a good time! $15 per person, Minimum of 5, max of 12.
February 2020 Workshop:
Special Artist Workshop: “Stitch a Photo”
Thursday Feb. 27, 2020 | 5-7pm

“Stitch a Photo” Special workshop with Jane Deschner, Billings MT visual artist, currently our artist-in-residence staying at our Arts Retreat House.
A great workshop for scrapbookers, visual journaling, story-making and anyone looking for a unique idea for old photos. Using embroidering techniques, visual artist Jane Deschner will teach you how to stitch on photos without damaging them, adding a great element to an old photo.
$10 with a maximum of 12 participants. Materials supplied, but you can bring cotton embroidery thread and old snapshots if you have them.
