All are invited to our annual Winter Fundraiser at the City Hall Ballroom during the Community Christmas Tree Festival on Wednesday, November 30th, 2022 from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

Come to support the Cultural Center’s work, view the community Tree Festival displays, and connect with friends and neighbors!

 

This FUN fundraiser will include:

  • Ballet Recital — Our evening will begin with a brief recital performed by our Youth Ballet students at 6:00 p.m.! Thanks to Instructor Leona Cichy and all of the participants for sharing your talents and newly acquired ballet skills with our community.
  • Winter Gifts — Unique grab & go gifts for teachers, co-workers, care providers & more!

      • Led by Denise Peltier
      • Bring your own pot, bowl or cup or use one of ours
      • Local gardening expert Denise Peltier shares her succulents and expertise in helping you create your own small succulent planter to take home or give as a gift! 
    • CREATE your own holiday cards [free will donation]
      • Led by Cheryl Bannes
      • Print your own holiday cards to share unique seasonal wishes. Cheryl will lead you in printing note cards using handmade holiday designs. Perfect to share with the special people in your life, or frame them as unique holiday décor!
  • Live Auction — By Perala Bros. Auctioneers. Treasures for friends, family, or YOU!
    • Skiing / Snowshoeing Experience
      Spend an afternoon skiing or snowshoeing through Black’s Grove in Wadena. Meet on Theisen land (ski trail goes through it) for a fully supplied bonfire with food and drinks for up to 8 people. Potential to borrow skis and snowshoes (if sizes are appropriate). Donated by Sarah Carlson.
    • Santa’s Reindeer
      Handmade natural wood reindeer for outdoor display. Sold as choice, or buy the whole herd! Created by DuWayne Roberts and Chris Roberts.
    • Paint & Sip Party
      Enjoy a paint & sip experience for up to 8 people, led by Cheryl Bannes, Cultural Center Artistic Director. All art supplies, snacks & drinks provided. Gather at the Cultural Center or in your own home for a fun and creative experience!
    • Winter Porch Pot
      Winter porch pot featuring locally sourced organic materials perfect for beautifying your outdoor space! Created and donated by Mary Jo Roberts.
    • Lakeside Cabin Weekend Vacation at East Silent Lake Resort
      Includes a 2-bedroom lakeside cabin for 4 people (available between 12/2/22 – 6/11/23 or 8/25/23 – 12/31/23), all resort amenities, dock space and lake access to one of Minnesota’s premiere recreational lakes!  Donated by the Leonard family.
    • Christmas Wine Basket
      Delight your holiday guests this season with 9 assorted wines made by Cultural Center Board Member and former owner of “Make Me Wine” in Perham, Mary Jo Roberts. Wines included: Blueberry Pineapple, Berry Blend, Wild Blackberry, Raspberry Rhubarb, Wild Grape, Black Currant, Plum, Mango Pineapple, Spuds Riesling (Potato). Donated by Mary Jo Roberts.
    • Two 7′ Apple Tree
      Two seven-foot apple trees. You’ll be ready to make homemade apple pie in no time! Sold as choice. Donated by Tom Meinhover of Grass Roots Ottertail.
    • Big Pine Lake Airbnb
      Two nights stay May-June 2023 (pending availability) on beautiful Big Pine Lake! Charming lakeside cabin with a queen bed and queen sleeper sofa will be your weekend getaway destination to enjoy. Donated by Janel Wensman.
    • Cultural Center Ultimate Experience Package
      Includes annual membership, 8 free concerts with reserved seating and free drink, free year of Art for Lunch (or equivalent), Great American Think-Off ticket, an additional 5% off in the gift shop all year, plus a basket of Cultural Center swag: t-shirt, coffee, mug & more!
  • Artist-made Ornaments — Beautify your tree with artist-made ornaments!
    • Grab & go artist-made ornaments just $10 each
    • Variety of ornaments created by local & regional artists
    • Get them before they’re gone!
  • Bottle Grab — Grab a bottle for your holiday festivities!
    • Pay $10 and grab any bottle of your choice!
    • Bottles will be wrapped to conceal contents . . . grab a bottle and unwrap for a satisfying surprise!
    • Assortment will include wine and spirits. Must be 21 years old to purchase.
    • Value of bottles range from $10 – $50+!

  • Online (Silent) Auction Kick-Off — Bid online November 30th through December 9th!
    • Featuring artist made goods, vintage treasures, crafting items, and more!
    • Kicks off November 30th; get more info and scan the QR code with your phone to log on at the event.
    • Bid online from the comfort of your home through Friday, December 9th @ NOON.
    • Pick up your “winnings” at the Center December 9th or 10th (or contact us for other arrangements).
    • This virtual option allows for bidders to support our work from near & far!

Light refreshments will also be available. Event held at the NYM City Hall Ballroom during the week-long annual Christmas Tree Festival (hosted by the New York Mills Civic & Commerce Association), so you’ll have a chance to view all the community displays while you’re there too (many of which are available to bid on, with proceeds benefitting NYM Santa Anonymous).
