Wellness Program for Girls
New Arts Focus in 2025
Held @ NYMRCC Feb-Mar 2025
The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center is pleased to collaborate with local partners to provide space for the 2025 BIO Girls Wellness Program at the Cultural Center in February and March 2025.
Research shows that 6 in 10 adolescent girls suffer from low self-esteem – self-esteem is how you feel about yourself most of the time. When you have low self-esteem, you are unhappy or unsatisfied with yourself. Girls’ self-esteem is highest in 3rd grade and plummets to a low by 6th grade. BIO Girls is a 12-session preventative wellness program focusing on girls in grades 2-6 with a mission to change this statistic. Through lessons on healthy relationships, leadership, kindness, and mental wellness, this proven program is making a difference.
This is New York Mills’ fourth year having a BIO Girls Program, and this year we are excited to be piloting an art-based program! We will use the power of art to hone in on the lessons over the 12 sessions. With this art focus, the perfect place to host BIO Girls sessions is the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center! Sessions will take place after school on Tuesdays and Thursdays from February 18 – March 27, 2025.
