Perham native Bob Riepe will be reading from his recently published book, ‘ROUGH ON RATS-the Trials and Tribulations of Buck Steichen’. 
The book is the first in the five book Raw Deals Series. The series is an epic tale of a family’s struggles in rural Minnesota as they do everything in their power to survive amid trying times. The characters in the series are based on people buried in the once-unmarked graves of the Fergus Falls ‘Poor Farm’ cemetery, a plot of land measuring 150 feet square on the north side of town. In the process of his historical research, Bob has learned the life stories of some of the interesting characters buried there.
Since the Spring of 2014, and with the blessing of the current land owner, Bob has made it his mission to honor the buried souls in the cemetery with landscaping, including an arbor, entryway, and a stone memorial.
Join us for this event in which Bob will read excerpts from the book as well as conduct a Q&A on the subjects of research methods, writing historical novels, and publishing.
Bob will have copies of Rough on Rats available to sign and sell. The event is free and open to the public. December 8th at 7 pm. Refreshments will be served.
