Rebecca Yates

Erasure Poet

Artist in Residence, Rebecca Yates, is a writer and erasure poetry artist living in Minneapolis. Her work has appeared in The Found Poetry Review, Damselfly Press, and Really System, among others. She is the founder of Minneapolis Erasures and leads erasure poetry workshops in the Twin Cities.

While in the Artist Residency program at the Center, Rebecca offers an erasure poetry workshop! The session begins with a brief introduction to the form and a look at some published collections of erasure poetry. Attendees then take pen or paintbrush to page and make their own erasure poem. At the end of the session, everyone is given the opportunity to share their poem with the group. No experience is required. All materials are supplied and the workshop is free to attend!

Attendees are encouraged to bring any interesting, vintage, classic, or rarefied books they’d like to “erase” to create a poem.
