Hope Shows Gallery Exhibit

This October, in recognition of Domestic Violence Awareness Month, the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center is honored to partner with Someplace Safe to present a powerful new exhibit, Hope Shows.
Running from October 1 through October 18, 2025, this exhibit aims to center the voices of survivors, inspire healing through creative expression, and bring awareness to the services available for individuals and families impacted by violence. There will be a Gallery Reception on Saturday, October 18, from 3-5PM, and all are invited.
Call for Artists, Crafters, & Makers!
“Hope Shows” is more than an art exhibit — it’s a community-wide invitation to express, reflect, and connect. Whether you’re an experienced artist or creating for the first time, you are invited to share your vision of hope, healing, and resilience through art.
This show welcomes art and crafts in all forms and mediums, including but not limited to:
- Painting & drawing
- Sculpture & ceramics
- Photography & digital art
- Mixed media & collage
- Fiber arts & textiles
- Poetry & written works
Submitting Work
- Eligible: All mediums and styles, 2D and 3D and written work that can be easily displayed
- Sales: Artwork preferred to be for sale, but not required (30% commission to Cultural Center)
- Drop-Off Dates: Sept 17-27 during regular open hours
- Must be gallery-ready: framed, with hooks and wire (no sawtooth hangers)
- Must label works on the back with name, title, and retail price – click here for label form

A Safe & Supportive Space
Our goal is for every participant and visitor to feel welcome and safe. We recognize the deeply personal nature of the stories behind these artworks — and we honor your decision to share, however you choose. If you would like to submit artwork without your name attached, you may do so anonymously by dropping off your piece at Someplace Safe Wadena Office. These works will be respectfully displayed with no identifying information.

Gallery Reception
This exhibit will run from October 1-18, 2025, with a Gallery Reception on Saturday, October 18, from 3-5 PM. The Gallery is always free to see and open to all, thanks to the generous support from our members and donors. The Gallery Reception is also free to attend, and all are welcome! There will be opportunities to support Someplace Safe with a donation throughout the exhibit and during the reception on October 18.
About Someplace Safe
Someplace Safe is a nonprofit organization that has been bringing hope and healing to West Central Minnesota communities since 1979. Each year, they empower nearly 4,000 individuals with free, confidential support as they rebuild their lives after experiencing violence or other crimes. Serving a nine-county region, Someplace Safe offers compassionate advocacy, safety planning, and resources to help survivors of domestic violence, sexual assault, trafficking, and more move forward with strength and confidence.
