Three Regional Artists
September 11 – October 19, 2024
Reception Sat. Oct. 12 @ 1-3PM
The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center is pleased to announce its new gallery exhibit ”Women Create” in the gallery from September 11 through October 19, 2024. A reception will be held on Saturday, October 12 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
This show features the art of three regional women, Linda Beilke from Frazee, Linda Sheryak from Moorhead, and Donna Chalimonczyk from Moorhead. These three women are all members of the Cormorant Art League and each have their own unique style and interpretation of the world around them.
The three women artists in this gallery show each have their own unique style that will engage and delight all who visit the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center. The paintings and sculptures in “Women Create” will be for sale and visitors will be certain to find a unique piece of art to take home.
Artist Linda Beilke
Linda works 2 dimensionally in watercolor, acrylic, ink, graphite and mixed media: realism to non-objective imagery. Linda’s style of allowing the ink or graphite drawing to be visible as the foundation of her art has become her distinctive look. This style clarifies the details and allows freer, more expressive color and mixed media to be layered, which adds more interest to each work of art.
Inspiration abounds in the lakes area where Linda finds amazing beauty and artistic challenges in the changing seasons and nature. She has also been inspired by working with her students in helping them find a unique vision and voice in their art.
Linda looks at the world through the eyes of subtle color changes, contrast between organic and geometric shapes and movement shown through perspective and composition. Her artwork ranges from floral, landscape, animal, portraiture to abstract and non-objective.
Beilke earned her B.F.A. in Drawing and Painting, B.S. in Art Education, and has taken many graduate-level visual art classes and workshops from dozens of colleges and universities throughout the country. Her art career has included K – 12 Visual Art Specialist (Frazee, MN, Anoka-Hennepin- Minneapolis, HEB-Bedford, Texas); Gallery Director, Educational/Sales Director, Corporate Art Consultant (Mpls & St. Paul galleries and fine art print producer, publishing studio and gallery); Art Judge (professional> MSHSL>Contest> Fairs); Art Grant Recipient; and Art Instructor (workshops adults – young children).
Commissions are welcomed. Contact Linda at lindabeilke10@gmail.com.
Artist Donna Chalimonczyk
Donna Chalimonczyk paints both with watercolors and acrylics. Donna says, “The wonderful part about painting is watching a painting emerge from the paint and water dropped on paper. It is truly an exciting experience.” Her paintings vary in style and subjects, from realistic to abstract.
Artist Linda Sheryak
Linda Sheryak says she has always been a visual person — her first painting was copying a Van Gogh with color crayons. In school her favorite teachers were Art Teachers, and she was rewarded with their good favor.
Working as a nurse and having children put Linda on an art hiatus. When her children were in college, she started painting with acrylics. Her favorite topic was corner pubs in England.
As Sheryak’s love for acrylics grew, local high schools asked her to paint backdrops for their plays, and she enjoyed doing this for several years.
When Sheryak retired and started wintering in Arizona, she fell in love with sculpting and making jewelry. Many of her whimsical sculptures are on display at the Cultural Center Gallery.
A Gallery Reception will be held on Saturday, October 12, 2024, from 1-3 p.m. The artists will be on hand to meet and greet visitors and discuss their work. An artists’ talk will begin at 2:00 p.m. The reception is free to attend and open to all. Refreshments will be available.
