Join us this spring at the Cultural Center as our new “Morning with Megan” workshop series continues! Morning with Megan is a monthly creative series held on the second Saturday of each month, offering new projects and creative inspiration throughout the year.
Workshops take place at the Cultural Center, in the upstairs studio (accessible only by stairs; call 218-385-3339 if accommodations are needed). We kindly request that you pre-register so we can plan adequately. Click the links below to sign up today, or call 218-385-3339 with any questions.
Please note: Arts Learning Workshops (and all Cultural Center events!) are always open to ALL — you do NOT need to be a member to attend. Victorian Puzzle Purse Workshop

Celebrate Valentine’s Day with a touch of historic charm! Join us for a special Morning with Megan workshop—held during our annual Hygge Market—as Artistic Director Megan Shirley-Ross guides participants through creating a Victorian-inspired puzzle purse keepsake.
Puzzle purses (also known as folding love letters) were popular in the Victorian era and often used to share heartfelt messages in a beautifully decorative form. In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn how to create your own puzzle purse to gift to someone special or keep as a meaningful personal treasure.

Mixed Media Celtic Rabbits

Celebrate creativity and the coming of spring in this hands-on mixed media workshop inspired by Celtic art and the symbolism of rabbits. In this Morning with Megan class, participants will create a whimsical Celtic-inspired rabbit artwork using cut paper, acrylic paint, and paint pen. Guided step-by-step, this workshop invites artists of all experience levels to explore layered textures, pattern, and fresh seasonal color in a relaxed, welcoming setting.

Painted Wood Folks Eggs

📍 New York Mills Regional Cultural Center
Celebrate spring with a cozy, creative morning inspired by the Ukrainian tradition of pysanky. In this hands-on workshop, Megan will guide you through designing and painting beautiful folk-style eggs using vibrant patterns, symbols, and color stories—no experience needed.
Participants will paint wooden eggs using acrylic paints and paint pens, making them perfect for long-lasting seasonal décor. Each finished egg comes with its own wooden holder, ready to display at home or give as a thoughtful handmade gift.

Needle Felted Landscapes

Start your Saturday with a cozy, creative session led by Artistic Director Megan Shirley-Ross! In this hands-on workshop, you’ll learn the basics of needle felting while creating a textured, wool landscape inspired by nature. Perfect for beginners and returning felters alike, Megan will guide you step-by-step as you layer, blend, and shape wool into a small felted scene to take home.
