Join the Cultural Center, the NYM Public Library, NYM Public Works, NYM Police Department, Roots & Wings Forest School, and Baby’s Bagels Food Truck from 4-6PM on National Night Out, Tuesday, August 2nd, 2022, outdoors behind the Cultural Center & Library for a variety of fun community activities!

Have an idea or want to join the fun?  All are welcome!  Email info@kulcher.org or call 218-385-3339.

We are pleased to launch our Positive Community Sign Project at National Night Out this year!

We are seeking positive sign designs from all!  Supplies will be available for attendees to create a sign design during National Night Out, with all designs being entered into a community contest.

Sign designs will be posted in our gallery and online, and community members are invited to vote for their favorite designs. The top vote-getters will be printed and distributed to community members to post in yards around New York Mills.

We would like to thank the New York Mills Civic & Commerce Association for their sponsorship of this project.

National Night Out is an annual community-building campaign that promotes police-community partnerships and neighborhood camaraderie to make our neighborhoods safer, more caring places to live. National Night Out enhances the relationship between neighbors and law enforcement while bringing back a true sense of community. Furthermore, it provides a great opportunity to bring police and neighbors together under positive circumstances.

Millions of neighbors take part in National Night Out across thousands of communities from all fifty states, U.S. territories and military bases worldwide on the first Tuesday in August.  Neighborhoods host block parties, festivals, parades, cookouts and various other community events with safety demonstrations, seminars, youth events, visits from emergency personnel, exhibits and much, much more.

The public is welcome to join us outdoors in the back parking lot shared with the NYM Public Library (weather permitting) and inside the Cultural Center. Come and meet a New York Mills Police Officer and check out their vehicle, explore some NYM Public Works equipment, chat with Library staff and buy a used book to take home, play nature I spy and create animal track art with Roots & Wings Forest School, enjoy a variety of games and activities for all ages, and eat some delicious local food from Baby’s Bagels food truck!

National Night Out is free to attend and open to all. Call 218-385-3339 with questions.

NOTE: We encourage neighborhoods to hold their own gatherings as well!  Check out National Night Out online for ideas and to learn more.

This activity is made possible in part by the voters of Minnesota through an operating support grant from the Minnesota State Arts Board, thanks to a legislative appropriation from the arts and cultural heritage fund.
