Join Our Team as the Artistic Director!
The New York Mills Regional Cultural Center is seeking a passionate and experienced Artistic Director to lead our artistic and educational initiatives. Located in the heart of Ottertail County, MN, our Center serves as a rural hub for creativity, community vitality, and lifelong learning in the arts.
Position Overview:
As the Artistic Director, you will curate our art gallery, sculpture park, and artist residency program. You will spearhead arts education and outreach efforts and collaborate closely with the Executive Director on operations and creative leadership. This role offers a unique opportunity to shape high-quality arts programming in a vibrant rural community.
Key Responsibilities:
- Curate Exhibitions & Programs: Develop and implement 10-12 annual gallery shows and oversee the Artist in Residence program for 8-14 artists per year.
- Lead Arts Education: Conduct or coordinate arts education programs 1-4 times monthly.
- Community Engagement: Build and maintain relationships with artists, curators, and arts administrators throughout Minnesota and the Midwest.
- Program Administration: Manage and evaluate gallery exhibitions, public art initiatives, and outreach programs.
- Strategic Planning: Collaborate on budgeting and pursue funding opportunities through sponsorships and grants.
- Fundraising Participation: Actively engage in fundraising and program events to support the Center’s mission.
- Foster Inclusivity: Promote a creative environment that embraces diverse voices and innovative programming.
Qualifications:
- 5+ years in artistic leadership, including curation, programming, teaching, and team management.
- Bachelor’s degree in art history, fine arts, arts education, or equivalent experience.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Creative thinker with the ability to manage multiple projects in a dynamic environment.
- Passion for the arts and a commitment to supporting emerging and diverse artists.

- Salary: $44,000 to $50,000, based on experience, with a comprehensive benefits package.
