Join the Minnesota Humanities Center and Danger Boat Productions, along with the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center and regional partners NYM Public Library, NYM Civic & Commerce Association, NYM Forward, Elevate OTC, Perham Chamber, and Otter Tail Lakes Country Association for a unique evening of food, laughter, and community connection at the Sketches of Minnesota Otter Tail County event!

The Sketches of Minnesota Civic Improv Comedy Tour is funded by the Minnesota Humanities Center, enabling free attendance and these community events that use the power of comedy to celebrate Minnesota communities, spark dialogue, bridge divides, and encourage constructive ways of working together.

The evening begins with a catered meal and community conversations. Audience members will be invited to share what makes Otter Tail County special, what outsiders often misunderstand, what challenges we face, and hopes for the future. Danger Boat Productions, an improv comedy troupe, will then take those stories and bring them to life on stage—unscripted, heartfelt, and hilarious. 

Schedule

  • 5:00–6:00 PM | Doors Open & Community Hour – learn about the local partners, enjoy snacks & cash bar

  • 6:00–7:15 PM | Dinner – must pre-register & make meal selection

  • 7:15–8:00 PM | Improv Performance

  • 8:00–8:30 PM | Talkback & Reflections

About the Program

The Minnesota Humanities Center works to build a stronger Minnesota by lifting up the beauty, wisdom, and stories of its people. Through partnerships and events like Sketches of Minnesota, they create space to foster connections and deepen understanding of ourselves and our communities—moving us closer to a more just society.
