Just a week and a half and more than 30 pages of new poetry after arriving from Anchorage, Alaska, artist-in-residence Alyse Knorr is settling in quite nicely. Alyse will be here until June 4th, and will spend her time both in writing new pieces and in editing past works.
Alyse Knorr is the author of Annotated Glass (Furniture Press Books, 2013) and Alternates (dancing girl press, 2014). Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in Denver Quarterly, Caketrain, ZYZZYVA, Drunken Boat, Alice Blue Review, and The Southern Poetry Anthology (Texas Review Press, 2012), among others. She received her MFA from George Mason University. She is a co-founding editor of Gazing Grain Press and teaches English at the University of Alaska Anchorage. Learn more about Alyse and her poetry at her website, www.alyseknorr.com.
Please join us at the Cultural Center on Monday, June 2nd at 7:30pm; Alyse and local artist (and Cultural Center board member) Nikki Werner will be at the Cultural Center for a reception to showcase their joint efforts in creating limited edition poetry letterpress broadsides. This partnership has been a great opportunity to pair local and visiting artists to create new and different artwork. Together they have selected one of Alyse’s poems to be printed at Nikki’s print shop, Barn Owl Press (http://barnowlletterpress.com). Alyse will also read some of her poetry during this event. Come visit with Alyse and Nikki and learn more on Monday evening, June 2nd, at the Cultural Center. This event is free and open to all.
