Staci R. Schoenfeld received an MFA in creative writing from Southern Illinois University in Carbondale and is Managing Poetry Editor at Revolution House. A recipient of grants from the Barbara Deming Memorial Fund and the Kentucky Foundation for Women and residencies from the Ragdale Foundation, Edward F. Albee Foundation, and the New York Mills Regional Cultural Center, her poems appear in or are forthcoming from Greensboro Review, Washington Square, Southern Humanities Review, Muzzle, Hayden’s Ferry Review, diode, South Dakota Review, and The Collagist, among others.
Her poems have been nominated for the Pushcart Prize and Best of the Net, and “Attempts at Flight” was a finalist in Yemassee’s Pocataligo Poetry Contest. A featured poet at Holler Poets Series in Lexington, KY, Rivertown Reading Series in Paducah, KY, S&Q in Champaign, IL, and Slant Reading Series in Evansville, IN, she has also received a Postgraduate Fellowship from the Kentucky Women Writers Conference, as well as scholarships to attend the Appalachian Writers Workshop and the Mountain Heritage Literary Festival.
While in New York Mills, Staci is working on revisions to her poetry manuscript, The Blue Notebook, which explores childhood trauma, mental illness, and what it means to be a survivor. She will be running a drop-in erasure poem workshop on Saturday, November 8th from 10 am to 1 pm at the Center and hopes that you will come by, introduce yourself, and make some poems with her.
