Bring a grocery bag full of plastic bags to make your plarn. Also please bring one size I, J, or K hook, or you are welcome to borrow a hook for the duration of the class that day. Knifty Knitter Kid’s Hat – Saturday, Sept 23 @11am-2pm, $10/$9 – Learn with Sit-N-Stitcher, Shelley Johnson

Shelley has been creating knifty-knitted hats, slippers, and scarves on knifty-knitter looms for over a decade! You will utilize our looms and we’ll supply the yarn. In three hours you’ll complete a winter hat for a child. It’s a nice way to try out this fun technique before investing in your own set of looms. This is a beginner’s level course.

“Working Off the Grid” Aluminum Fiber Vessel Class – Saturday, Sept 23 @2:30pm-4:30pm, $40/$36 – With Kristi Kuder of Minneapolis

Working with deconstructed aluminum wire mesh, students will felt the fibers to create beautiful, airy bowls or wall hangings. Students should bring leather work gloves and eyebrow tweezers. All other materials provided.

Pushing the definition of fiber, sculptor and installation artist, Kristi Swee Kuder applies textile processes to wire and wire mesh in response to her interest in humanity’s biased, vague and conflicting facets. Her final pieces are textural, transparent and light. Kristi is a 2017 recipient of a MN State Arts Board Artist Initiative Grant.
