We’re fortunate to have three representatives from the New York Mills School serving as members of the 2017 Board of Directors of the Center. Rebecca Imsande is the Music teacher, Judith Brockway is the elementary Principal, and Matt Holtberg is the Technology Coordinator. Connecting with schools in our surrounding communities is a priority for the Center.

To this end, the Center hosts the annual Minnesota State High School League art show and festival each year in April, and a regional elementary show in May.  We also work to make connections between students and artists through our Arts Retreat residency program, performers in our regular concert series, and clinics and workshops in the schools each year.  For example, Anne Sawyer-Aitch, the artist who writes and directs the Puppet Pageant each summer, carried out workshops with students during the school year to introduce them to the art of puppet theater.  These activities bear fruit — that summer, participation in the Pageant of both youth and adults increased.

We have also hosted Open Youth Nights and are working on developing a Youth Advisory Board. If you are interested in being a part of these programs, contact the Center at 218-385-3339 or info@kulcher.org.
