The Cultural Center is pleased to present its 2024 Winter/Spring Performing Arts Series!

We look forward to providing opportunities to connect with artists in our unique, intimate listening-room-style space in our visual arts gallery. ALL are welcome to join us for these one-of-a-kind creative experiences!

Most performances begin at 7:30 p.m. (doors open at 7:00) and are held in the Cultural Center’s gallery space unless noted otherwise.

Ticket prices typically range from $10-15 in advance or $12-18 at the door; members receive a $2 discount. Students $5. General admission seating is first come, first served. Tickets are available online (links below), at the Center, or by calling 218-385-3339.  Light refreshments and cash bar available at most performances.

Dennis Warner & Dan Neale

The New York Mills Public Library and New York Mills Regional Cultural Center are pleased to co-present Dennis Warner, along with Dan Neale, at the New York Mills Public Library on Friday, January 19, at 6:30 pm. Together, Dennis and Dan will blend acoustic singer/songwriter vibes with thought-provoking ballads, up-tempo music, funny songs, and humorous stories.

This concert is free to attend and open to all.

Comedians Jason Schommer & Jodie Maruska

Jason Schommer is a standup comedian and storyteller who spent two years as the opening act for comedy legend Louie Anderson in Las Vegas. After being asked for her autograph the first night she performed standup, Jodie Maruska knew she had found her calling. Together Jason & Jodie will bring a night of laughs to NYM! All are welcome at this stand-up comedy event (best for ages 16 and up). Snacks and a cash bar will be available.

Good Morning Bedlam

UPDATE 2/14/24: Due to an unforeseen family emergency, Good Morning Bedlam will not be able to perform on March 2nd and will need to cancel their show. The band will be taking a hiatus from performing live to tend to some personal, family-related matters that require their attention and focus. We hope to reschedule this concert in the future.

Good Morning Bedlam has become a staying force in the folk genre over the past several years. GMB shows are known for their wild energy and stunning harmonies. Based out of Minneapolis, Good Morning Bedlam’s current iteration is made up of Isaak and Victoria Elker. They are continuing to tour full-time in 2024. Light refreshments and cash bar available.

“The Night Before Gettysburg” Lincoln Performance

“The Night Before Gettysburg” was written by Chuck Johnson of Perham in 2021. The play focuses on Lincoln finishing writing The Gettysburg Address the night before in his bedroom. Chuck uses the play to take you inside Lincoln as he struggles with racism, slavery, war carnage, and the deaths of two of his children. Don’t miss this powerful piece of living history! Light refreshments available.

Ruckus in the Bearbrush Concert

The Ruckus is a rowdy trio of skilled multi-instrumentalist musicians (Adrian Rainer, Emma Nistler, Paul Imholte) who are full of shenanigans, stories, and songs. Their inspiring music is loved by audiences of all ages. They bring forth long-forgotten folk tales, history, and music from the Appalachian territories of the United States. Through their story and song, they transport audiences back to a simpler time. Light refreshments and cash bar available.

Corey Medina & Brothers

We are thrilled to announce a late addition to our season — NYMRCC fan favorite, COREY MEDINA & BROTHERS!!!

Corey Medina is a Blues-Rock artist who is Diné from Shiprock, NM, a town in the Navajo Tribal Nation. He moved to Northern Minnesota in 2012 to be closer to his girlfriend, now wife and mother to their two beautiful children. Corey now produces full-time music with his band known as “The Brothers,” including Eric Sundeen on drums and Gary Broste on upright bass, all currently residing in Bemidji, MN.

Aaron Simmons

Aaron Simmons is best known for his unique combination of high-energy stage presence and vulnerable songwriting. Nobody has more fun on stage, yet nobody is more in touch with the emotion his music conveys about love, loss, family, community, and chasing dreams. Country music is storytelling, and that is what he does best. Light refreshments and cash bar available.
