2016 Cultural Center 8th annual Puppet Pageant
Supply, Volunteer, and Sponsor Request
The Puppet Pageant is a community theatre production and there are many ways to get involved!
Volunteer Opportunities:
- Sewing: costumes
- Carpentry: help with stilts, as needed
- Help with younger children during workshops & rehearsals:
- August 8-12 (Monday-Friday) 9am-noon
- August 15-19 (Monday-Friday) 9am-noon
- August 17 (Wednesday) 6-8 pm *evening rehearsal*
- August 18 (Thursday) 6-8 pm *DRESS REHEARSAL*
- August 19 (Friday) 5:30 CALL FOR PERFORMERS

- Help with puppet & props building:

Supplies Requested:
- Large pieces of white or solid color fabric – could be bedsheets
- Bubble wrap
- Clean single-ply cardboard (large boxes)
- Newspaper
- Brown paper bags
- Plastic bags
- Cereal boxes
- Swimming noodles
- Old umbrellas
- Christmas Tree balls and tinsel
- Bamboo garden stakes
- Old bicycle inner tubes and tires
- Water-based house paint (no oil-base, please)
- Plastic containers with lids (cottage cheese type or similar)
- Craft doo-dads such as: pipe cleaners, pom-poms, buttons
- Bamboo poles
- Tarps (can be used, will get used)
- Trash bags and paper towels galore
- Wooden lathe for puppet sticks (30 sticks)
- Duct tape, 10 rolls
- Masking tape, 10 rolls
- Acrylic Paint, one gallon each of red, yellow, blue, green, orange, black, white)
- Paint Brushes
- Bucket
- Roll of tinfoil
- 20 yards of plain white muslin
- Box cutter blades
- X-acto knife blades and knives
Sponsor a Child!
- $50 provides a scholarship for one child to participate
- $300 covers the actual cost for one child to participate
- All donors will be listed in program
- Business sponsor benefits include ad in program, logo on website
General Information:
Participation in the Puppet Pageant performance and two weeks of workshops is open to youth 5 years old through adults (children under the age of 7 must be accompanied by an adult or older sibling), with volunteers gladly welcomed.
Actual cost to produce this event is approximately $300/participant. To help cover these costs, there is a youth tuition of $50 for this two-week program, with a $100 maximum per family. In order to encourage adult participants, there is no fee for adults. Scholarships available based on need; call (218) 385-3339.
