Closed due to COVID
All events cancelled/postponed
Online creativity continues!

Per Governor Walz’s Emergency Executive Orders, the Cultural Center closed on March 17th, 2020. We are taking a safety-first stance in working to flatten the curve of COVID-19 and help protect our communities. Stay tuned for further information on a re-open date.

We also recognize the importance of the arts in providing creative solutions, opportunities for connections, and reminders of all the beauty that surrounds us, particularly during times of crisis.

To this end, and in the spirit of “making lemonade,” we have taken our creative practice online!

Staff is working hard to provide ways to connect electronically and offer some “Daily Doses of Kulcher” for our communities. Please visit our Facebook page by clicking below or search @ccnym.

We are also spreading some “Random Acts of Kulcher” around town and working on sharing live music from local musicians too. If you are working on a project and could use some creative collaboration, let us know.

During this time of quarantine and social distancing, please also remember to support local businesses, artists, and all organizations negatively affected by the closures. This is a trying time for all, but we will make it through together, as long as we all support each other.

Here at the Cultural Center, we are working hard to reschedule events, share creative virtual experiences, and support our communities, staff, artists, and volunteers to the best of our abilities. In addition to our Daily Doses of Kulcher on our Facebook page, we are also sharing links to useful resources and information, such as:

Financial challenges are a fact of life for many individuals and organizations during this challenging time, and we understand this isn’t easy for any of us. We we have worked hard to improve our financial sustainability in recent years, but our inability to earn revenue through events and programs during this closure is a real challenge for us.

If you’re able to make a contribution to help us continue our operations during and following this closure, we would be forever grateful. CLICK HERE to make a one-time or recurring donation online, send a check to us at PO Box 246, New York Mills, MN 56567, or contact betsy@kulcher.org to learn about sponsorships, sustaining memberships, and other creative ways to support our work in cultivating the arts and community in rural Minnesota.

We also encourage you to participate in #GiveAtHomeMN May 1-8, 2020. This online giving event is being hosted by GiveMN, who hopes that a statewide campaign encouraging generosity will spark increased giving and a greater awareness of how nonprofits and schools are strengthening Minnesota communities.

Check out https://www.givemn.org/ and search for your favorite nonprofits and schools. You can find our page here: https://www.givemn.org/organization/New-York-Mills-Arts-Retreat

Finally, remember to thank and support our healthcare workers, emergency workers, government leaders, grocery store and post office workers, meals-on-wheels delivery people, and ALL those working hard to keep us all safe during this difficult time. Make a phone call to a friend, neighbor, or family member. Take care of yourselves and each other. We can’t wait to see you when we’re back open! We will be ready and waiting to cultivate the arts and community with you. Be well everyone, and virtual hugs to all!
