Window to the World Show
The Cultural Center in New York Mills’ current gallery show features photos from Italy as seen through the eyes of local travelers. “Snapshots of Italy” is on display from now until September 14, 2019.
A reception with the photographers from the show will be held on Friday, September 13, 2019 from 4:30-6:00 p.m. Refreshments will be served, admission is free, and all are welcome to attend.
The Cultural Center offers many unique opportunities for the region to participate in and enjoy the arts, including a variety of visual art gallery shows, music and other performances, lectures, and workshops. The goal is to celebrate local art and culture, and to be a window to the world. “Snapshots from Italy” are a series of photos from a trip to Italy in June of 2019 sponsored by the Cultural Center and offered in partnership with More for Le$$ Tours of New York Mills.
This “Window to the World” travel experience took 18 travelers from Central Minnesota to many culturally significant sites throughout Italy. They visited Venice, Florence, Rome, Pompeii and several smaller towns along the Amalfi Coast. The art, culture and country offered unlimited photographic opportunities. The series of photos on display are from 11 of the travelers. The photos represent each person’s favorite moment or memory. The photos are beautiful, and as one visitor said, “It is amazing that these wonderful photos were taken by amateur photographers!”
The Cultural Center Gallery and Gift Shop is open Wednesdays and Thursdays 10-7, Fridays 10-5 and Saturdays 10-3. Admission is always free and open to the public.
