Announcing our 3rd “Window to the World” Travel Adventure: Spain & Portugal 2024!
All are invited to join our tour group heading to Spain and Portugal April 12-23, 2024!
The group is led by EF Go Ahead Tours. The trip is open to everyone (anyone under age 18 needs a parent or guardian traveling with them).

The Cultural Center’s “Window to the World” program began as an idea to embrace a portion of our vision statement, which states that our work focuses on “celebrating the local and providing a window to the world.”
That work happens all year long right here in New York Mills and the surrounding region through our wide variety of programs. However, one day, board and staff members started to dream…
What if we provided a hands-on way to view the world through a travel experience?
And, in addition to the trip itself, we could provide learning opportunities for ALL (whether you actually took the trip or not) to learn about the culture we planned to travel to! Thus, our “Window to the World” program was born.
In 2019 we took our first group trip to Italy, in 2022 we traveled to Finland (after a COVID delay in 2021), and NEXT, we are headed to Spain & Portugal in 2024!

Discover the diversity of two neighboring countries:
The seafaring history and Moorish architecture that the Iberian Peninsula is known for only tells part of the region’s story. The other half lies in the local culture, which is best experienced at a bustling Portuguese taverna or in a colorfully tiled Spanish plaza.
Dive into the delights of classic destinations like lovely Lisbon and charming Porto while also enjoying time to marvel at sites such as the imposing Roman aqueducts of Segovia and Gaudí’s Sagrada Família in Barcelona.
The 2024 Spain & Portugal tour package includes:

Tour highlights include the Monument to the Discoveries, Coimbra University, Stock Exchange Palace, University of Salamanca, Alcazar of Segovia, Mercado San Miguel, and Sagrada Familia.
On this guided tour, you’ll walk for at least 2 hours daily across moderately uneven terrain, including paved roads and cobblestone streets, with some hills.

Portugal to Spain with New York Mills Regional Cultural Center
Want to learn more about the Spanish and Portuguese cultures, but not able to join us on the trip?
We’ve got you covered! Our goal is that even if you aren’t able to actually board the plane, you still have the opportunity to learn about the cultures! Workshops will include information about culture, art, language, etc. Workshop dates are to be announced.
A gallery exhibit and reception will also be held following the trip to share traveler photos and cultural learnings and memorabilia from the trip.
