The Cultural Center in New York Mills is pleased to present the 2016 Winter/Spring Performing Arts Series. With a goal of offering performances at least monthly, and focusing on a combination of celebrating the local and being a window to the world, we hope to offer something for everyone in a variety of musical, theatrical, dance, and other performances. Women & Prairie – Thurs, February 18, 2016 @ 7pm
“Women on the Prairie in Song and Poetry” featuring singer/songwriter Patty Kakac and poet Athena Kildegaard, who together explore and celebrate the lives of women on the prairie through song and verse. Join these two talented women for a program of creative work inspired by history and story. Sponsored by Lake Region Arts Council, this event is free and open to all.
Madams, Matrons & Madwomen – Sat, March 5, 2016 @ 7pm
Sponsored by the New York Mills Public Library and Viking Library System, this event is free and open to all. Eclectic storytelling in edgy and elegant acoustic and rock music. Award-winning songwriter Elisa Korenne celebrates America’s most intriguing women with songs and stories about local and national women that are too fascinating for the history books.
Monroe Crossing – Fri, March 11, 2016 @ 7:30pm
The Midwest’s premier bluegrass and gospel quintet will be back in New York Mills on Friday, March 11th @ 7:30 p.m., performing at the James Mann Center for Performing Arts in the New York Mills School. Tickets are $15 in advance or $18 at the door. $2 discount for Cultural Center members. Students $5.

Kip Peltoniemi – Sat, April 16, 2016 @ 7:30pm
Kip Peltoniemi is a musician and a humorist who has performed in several states and Finland for 50 years. His act features comedic songs, tall tales (some would say, “out and out” lies), and original and traditional button accordion instrumentals. Tickets $10 in advance or $12 at the door. $2 discount for Cultural Center members. Students $5. This performance is co-sponsored by Finn Creek Open Air Museum.
